WSET Intermediate: Level 2 Award in Wines

TWA has run WSET WINES L2 courses in Chinese for more than 10 years, but now for the first time, you can take this program in English, thanks to instructor KIM LEE. KIM spent 8 years studying in New York and brings to bear all her subsequent experience as a wine importer, as a restaurant-management consultant, and as a translator and educator for other TWA programs.
Course Overview
The TWA version of WSET Wine L2 in English is a great introduction to the wide world of wine. We will go into detail about,
- wine tasting,
- terroir and winemaking,
- classic grape varieties,
- all the world’s major regions of wine production.
TWA’s course is exceptionally comprehensive, presented in 8 sessions (with 32 hours of instruction) and including over 50 classic wines. If you already work in the wine trade, WSET Wine L2 is especially useful Successful candidates will be able to hold their own in discussions of these topics:
- styles of wines produced from internationally and regionally important grape varieties
- key stages in grape growing and winemaking,
- wine labels from the main wine-producing regions of the world
- characteristics of wines from principle grape varieties (and other examples)
- issues affecting the storage and service of wine
- principles of wine tasting and wine evaluation
Talk the talk with almost anyone. WSET L2 is a springboard to membership in the worldwide culture of wine.

在烹飪的專業認證教育中，你不可不知的是法國藍帶廚藝學院，在葡萄酒的專業認證教育中，你不可不知的是「英國葡萄酒與烈酒教育基金會」（Wine and Spirit Education Trust，簡稱WSET）。
WSET成立於1969年，致力於高品質葡萄酒及烈酒教育，提供酒類產業認可的專業資格認證已上有40年以上的歷史，WSET早已成酒類教育領域首屈一指的國際組織，授予一系列炙手可熱的葡萄酒及烈酒教育認證，WSET課程與認證資格從初學者到專家共有5個等級，著重葡萄酒和烈酒知識的傳授與WSET系統品評訓練，提供已在酒界服務的從業人員或是計畫踏入此專業領域者高品質與客製化的培訓課程。WSET資格受到全球認可。目前有55個國家開辦WSET認證課程，使用14種語言進行教學，在2011年一年當中，全球有超過 36,000名學生參加WSET認證考試。

The exam – 50 multiple-choice questions -- is included with every registration, and it will take place about a week after the last class. The pass line is 55%, a bump in the road. TWA candidates work hard and average well over 90% because many intend to continue to WINES L3.
WSET posts no prerequisites for Wines L2, but TWA does check to make sure you have minimal basic knowledge. We recommend that beginners start with Level 1 to ensure a solid foundation, However, as this course will be TWA’s very first in English, and TWA doesn’t offer L1 in English, Kim will make some allowances for beginners in the group.
TWA is well known for expert instruction, superb tasting lineups, and high pass rates in our Chinese programs. L2 candidates taste more than NT$60,000 worth of wine, and they achieve handsome scores because TWA spares no effort to bring the best to the program. TWA alumni are everywhere in Taiwan, active in Taiwan’s burgeoning wine industry, leading the development of Taiwan’s wine culture. Because of the pandemic sweeping the world (not so much in Taiwan), the class will be small and well-spaced, with all the other precautions also in force – masks on, hands washed outside the door, temperature checked, and in addition to rigorous sanitizing before the class, rooms flushed nightly with UVC light to disintegrate any unwanted stragglers.
